Will Gentle

Will Gentle serves as the Director of IT, Security, and Governance at Horizon Five, responsible for handling the management of internal systems as well as advising clients and partners on best practices for secure configurations and deployment of solutions.

Will has worked in technology for over twenty years, with a primary focus on heavily-regulated environments with stringent privacy practices. With years in higher education, insurance, finance, and state government, he worked to structure and improve complex systems while helping business partners identify and protect their critical functions.

Prior to joining Horizon Five, Will was the Senior Manager of Security Sales Enablement and Resiliency at Alteryx, with duties ranging from security contract review to crisis management, leading the team of employees who handle resiliency efforts as well as completing customer questionnaires about security practices at Alteryx. Business continuity and crisis were also a major part of his duties during his decade at Charles Schwab, where he managed numerous international disasters including Superstorm Sandy and worked on various teams including Risk Management, Service Level Management, Change Management, and Problem Management. Stints at the State of Texas and United Healthcare were heavily focused on business and systems analysis; supporting the RFP process for Texas Highway Patrol and building out program reporting for AmeriChoice’s Medicare/Medicaid lines.

Will is a midwest native, and recently moved to Omaha following multiple decades living in the South. Since returning, he has rapidly become enmeshed in the local security communities and currently serves as Vice President of ISACA - Omaha and on the planning committee for Kernelcon, the regional security conference. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, live music, working with special needs rescue dogs, and is pursuing a Masters of Law in Cybersecurity. He holds a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) designation from ISACA and an ITIL(v3) Foundation.
